Clinical Psychologist

Kath Boekamp is a Clinical Psychologist. After obtaining her undergraduate degree with First Class Honours in Psychology she then went on to work in Child and Adolescent Mental Health services in rural and remote WA. Since returning to Perth she completed a combined Masters/PhD degree in Clinical Psychology from Curtin University. She is registered with the Psychology Board of Australia and is a Member of the Australian Clinical Psychological Association and a Member of the Institute of Clinical Psychologists.

Kath has experience working in a variety of clinical settings within the public and private sector. Kath has worked with a number of Youth Mental Health Services over many years, including YouthFocus, headspace, YouthLink, & Youth Reach South as well as Child & Adolescent MH services (CAMHS). She previously maintained a position at the Fiona Stanley Hospital-Youth Mental Health Unit (inpatient). She recently maintained a position at at regional Government Mental Health service as a Clinical Psychologist.

Kath has a particular interest in working with adolescents and young adults in the assessment and treatment of a variety of psychological difficulties and is also trained in cognitive and personality assessments.

She provides evidence-based treatments depending on the person’s needs. She uses a number of psychological approaches based on her training dependent on the suitability for the client and the situation. These include, but are not limited to: Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Schema Therapy, Behavioural Activation, Metacognitive Therapy (MCT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) and Eye Movement De-sensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR).

Areas of interest include:

  • Anxiety disorders (Panic, GAD, OCD and Specific phobias)
  • Trauma
  • Mood disorders
  • Low self-esteem and assertiveness issues
  • Relationship difficulties
  • Perfectionism
  • Long standing negative personality or core beliefs (and in particular Borderline Personality Disorder- BPD, and Obsessive Compulsive Personality Disorder- OCPD)

SUPERVISION: Dr Kath Boekamp is registered with AHPRA to provide clinical supervision to Registrars in the Clinical Endorsement Pathway and Provisional Psychologists who are in the 4:2 and 5:1 pathway.

She is also available to provide supervision to Psychologists, Counsellors and Youth Workers.
